                                                       ABSTRACT

This article aims to show Arable land problems in Banthat Range Phatthalung Province
Area. This study was conducted by reviewing related literatures, conducting deep interview
with scholars and local philosophers, government officials and forestry officers, local leaders
and chiefs along with local residents and community organization representatives with 175
participants, unofficially interview with some individuals related with land conflict problems,
27 meetings with participation of government officials and forestry officers, local leaders and

chiefs, local residents and community organization representatives, including participatory
               observation in the area.
To show that Arable land problems in Banthat Range Phatthalung Province Area was
started from the entry occupy land by local people to arable and living land, that lived and
was bound balanced well with the forest. Then, the government took the action to manage
the lands by forest conservation which was not clearly explored and determined boundary
line, led to the overlapping with local people’ arable and living land and inevitably brought
about land conflict problems between government, residents and community organizations.

Solution to Arable land problems lead to balanced problem solving and Arable land
management. The most important thing is that this model has to take the abundance of
forests and the persistence of the way of life of local residents in the area into consideration.
