Factors Affecting the Quality of Life of People in Highland Communities of the
Royal Project, Chiang Mai Province

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to (1) study the quality of the people in the highland
communities of the Royal Project at Chiang Mai province (2) study the factors that influence the
quality of life of people in the highland communities of the Royal Project, and (3) recommend on
the development of people's lives in the highland communities of the Royal Project of Chiang Mai
Province. This research was survey research combined with qualitative research. The population is
the residents of the high community in the Royal Project of Chiang Mai Province and participates in
the application of the sufficiency economy philosophy together with the development of the quality
of life in the Royal Project 27 from 15 districts with a total of 117,693 samples from 399 people
calculated using Yamane's formula at the 95 per cent confidence level and using stratified sampling
to select a representative. For important information service providers by interviewing as a Royal
Project employee or assigned and relevant stakeholders in the Royal Project. The research
instruments consist of questionnaires and interviews. Two methods of quantitative analysis analyzed
by (1) the descriptive statistical analysis were frequency distribution, percentage, mean and standard
deviation, and (2) the inferential statistical analysis for hypotheses testing was t-test, F-value,
multiple regression analysis. Qualitative data analysis, using the SWOT data analysis to analyze
inductive data to summarize the conclusion. Results of the study found that (1) factors affecting the
quality of life of communities in the province Chiang Mai is the main factor of the sufficiency
economy and incentives. (2) the quality level of the people in the community of the Royal Project
of Chiang Mai is very high and not with more than 80 percent, and (3) the important
recommendations to improve the quality of life of a community of the Royal Project, Chiang Mai
Province as following; people of the communities in the capital city of Chiang Mai should establish
cooperation with the network of various institutions and people in the community to learn the
knowledge from the Royal Project and also preserve the social and cultural identity of the
communities, integrate the knowledge and new technology to adapt and response the condition of
highland communities, apply the research and development findings to the Royal Project Highland
communities, provide the knowledge sufficiency economy philosophy to communicate
understanding and participate in the development and increase income....
